juice

posted by peanut butter sandwhich

I woke up the other day and my brain-juice was a little bit lacking. Anyhow that's how it felt. I'd been staying up too late online and my brains had clearly dried from lack of sleep. I checked the cupboards for brain-juice, but had to settle for coffee.

As I was sitting attempting to substitute coffee for brain-juice, Fionn went to the kitchen to get some orange juice for himself; Fionn likes to freeze his orange juice, then he attacks it with a spoon like a starving icefisherman. Okay, maybe that's not entirely true, but at the time it felt like a cross between a woodpecker, a jackhammer, and the 1912 Overture.

Maybe that's what it sounds like when the Grapes of Wrath are being pressed into the GrapeJuice of Wrath.

It didn't help that the frozen cup of juice was on a low, wooden table with remarkable resonant qualites. Usually we enjoy its drumlike nature together. Sometimes we add other instruments for impromptu junk-jam sessions.

At this moment however, It was simply noise. Added to this was Jareth running around, exultant in his discovery of apple juice. He has just learned to say "apple juice" : he says: "appaCHOO! appaCHOO! APPACHOO!!!"

I never noticed before, but apple juice is apparently some kind of drug for toddlers because he really really really wanted more of the sweet amber liquid... I was beginning to wish I had a certain amber liquid in my coffee, and as the spoon struck the frozen juice on the drumlike wooden table the sound resonated across the floor into my feet and my body tensed like I was under attack.

I attempted to explain this to Fionn, but my lack of brain-juice was making the words like "resonant", "percussive" and "please" difficult to say; but on the third attempt my semi-coherent growling transformed into a short, sharp, somewhat half-orcish phrase. This persuaded him to move his juice-drilling activities to the ottomon. The wonderful, sound absorbing ottomon.

So then instead of the Grapejuice of Wrath, I sipped on the ... um ... Pearjuice of Peacefulness?

that's all ... thanks for reading my post :)
